Data Entry Form Management

Last updated: July 10, 2020

Data Entry Forms are screens, to allow users to enter data and timetag information for any point.

These are not meant for mass data collection/import but best suited for user data entry where automated collection of those values is not possible.

Once a form is created, it can be displayed in the live Data Entry widget.

Forms are configured on the “Data Entry Form Management” page, which can be accessed from the administration menu, and also by clicking the link text Data Entry Form in the widget configuration.

Forms are linked to the Data Entry Form widget via a unique reference number, entered in the widget configuration.

Below is an example of a form displayed on a dashboard where the points have been selected for manual data entry.

Data Forms are created and owned by an organisation within the system. A SuperUser user may access and create/modify forms across organisations by picking the organisation they want to view from the top selection box. Regular users do not have this option and may only create new/edit forms within their own organisation.

In order to create or save changes to a form a user must belong to a group that has the permission Create New Data Form enabled, as well as Data Entry Form Management via Menu>System Configuration>Groups.

Forms are configured in the “Data Entry Form Management” page.

  1. Clicking New Form will bring a window up as below.
    • You must enter a Data Form Name that is unique. A warning message will appear if an attempt to create a form is made with a name that already exists.
  2. Having created a form, select it from the list of forms and click the Edit Selected Form button.
    • This brings up the form on the right-hand side of the screen with default configuration options filled in and no points added in the points grid.
Note: The Form Definition Number in the top right corner. This is the unique number to be entered into the widget to link a Data Entry widget to this form definition. This is automatically entered in the widget configuration if the “Data Entry Form Management” page is accessed via the widget “Data Entry Form” link.
